CAIRNS NURSE WINS 2008 APNA BEST PRACTICE AWARDS |
Each year the Australian Practice Nurse Association recognises nurses who are champions in a number of award categories, with awards open to all APNA members from around the country. Rachel Sargeant, practice nurse, at Draper Street Family Medical in Cairns entered in the category of Women’s Health.
Rachel has been instrumental in developing and instigating a comprehensive, midwife lead, general practice based antenatal and postnatal care program. As a result of Rachel’s drive and vision Draper Street Family Medical now employs two midwives and offers a complete range of midwifery based services including antenatal care, lactation advice, post natal home visits, postnatal exercise programs and onsite specialist physiotherapy.
Rachel was successful in the Women’s Health category and receives prize money to contribute to further career development.
